Sure, I can define one of my FLCS hats to do torso twisting, but that's sending regular keyboard presses, not using the joystick axes to control the torso. In this case it's just an "on/off" - the torso only moves at one speed, and if you hold it down too long, it goes too far. And then you have to do "press..press..press.." to get precise aiming.
As opposed to, if the joystick was done correctly, the farther you move the joystick in the direction, the faster the torso moves. With the joystick only a short distance from center, the torso moves slowly, making it smooth and easy to track an enemy as he passes and you circle around him.

But you still have forced centering on the y-axis controlling torso elevation right? Hard to keep aimed at an enemies legs. I usually end up either aiming at his chest, or the ground in front of him. In fact, my aiming in general tends to do a wild sweep - if I'm trying for an aim point vertically off-center, I end up doing an up-and-down-and-up-and-down sweep, hoping to successfully hit the fire button at the right moment to get a precise hit. Never happens though. :) Best hope is to have a rapidly-recharging weapon, and just hold the button down.
You just can't hold a joystick, even a Thrustmaster FLCS with ACM card, off-center very consistently and achieve any kind of precise aim.
