Yeah, you and me both. I sure hope they come out with a patch that addresses this concern, as precise torso aiming with the joystick is just impossible right now, which is a shame.
I had the same problem with the pedals as you did, but I kept them as torso twist anyway. I can't use them to aim, but I can find about two or three good positions in which I can hold them (most often full-90 twist), and at least have rough control over the torso. Then of course, I have to use the joystick's chassis movement to do the aiming. That's just not the way it should be done, though.
