I have to say I agree 100% with absolutely everything you said, and I've posted at least one of the other posts you note complaining about the issue. I love the game, but am continually frustrated with the joystick-torso auto-centering.

I imagine it wouldn't be that hard to fix - it's not like the non-centering method of joystick reading is hard or impossible to do. Besides EarthSiege which does it correctly, just think about the chassis control. The mech turns as you turn the joystick, but it doesn't revert back to you original heading when you release the stick. Imagine if it _did_! If any programmers at Activision doubt our frustration with the torso-centering, let them imagine how difficult it would be to pilot with an auto-centering chassis. _That's_ about how I feel.

In the meantime, I'm using the default of joystick chassis turn, and pedals torso twisting. I still can't aim consistently with the torso (as it auto-centers with the pedals too), so what I'll generally do is just hold the torso off-center for circling battles, and continue to target left/right by turning the chassis. An inadequate solution to be sure, but it's playable. I still can't hold a vertical aim, though, with the centering, and two out of three times I revert to my training and try to turn the chassis with the pedals. :P

I sincerely hope Activision hears our pleas and provides a fix..
