I purchased Mercenaries Thursday and I've found a multitude of
bugs that are quite serious. I love the game, but it needs a patch
real bad. The interface for customizing mechs is also IMHO very
poor as compared with Mechwarrior 2, most notably the lack of a
"delete variant" button. Deleting these things from the operating
system is a REAL pain.

Here are the bugs I have noticed in two days of playing:

Win95 start-bar bug - During a fairly large mission the game will
become suspended with the start bar at the bottom of the screen
and the computer totally locked up. Many people have mentioned this
or something similar. Like the other messages about this bug, I have a
Matrox Millenium. The DOS version works great, no crashing bugs
there that I can see. I made it to the fourth or fifth campaign
before this bug bit me so I was *really* peeved at having to start
over in the DOS version. Copying .sav files is not a straight-forward
process between the versions.

Ammunition bug - This one really hurts gameplay. On any mech
that carries ammunition, if the ammo gets damaged, an extra ton
is added upon repair. The damaged ammo isn't replaced, an additional
ton is added ignoring the maximum weight. This really sux because
while you can remove the ton of ammo added for replacement, you
can't remove the damaged ton, making the mech non-customizable
for the rest of the game. The only way to deal with it is to a)Use
only energy weapons, b)Get the design the way you like it and never
change it again, or c)Sell the mech and get another one. This bug
was amusing at first, but now I find it maddening.
